Roll up, roll up to Kids Art Carnivale this Saturday
To celebrate the current exhibitions on show, YOUNG AT ART: Alison Lester’s Kids Antarctic Project and Who am I? Self portraits by students of the Mackay region, Artspace Mackay is pleased to present a free day of family art fun.
The Kids Art Carnivale to be held this Saturday, October 29 is a free event that celebrates creativity and art-marking in people of all ages.
Children, their parents and carers are all invited to attend the free drop-in art activities from 10am to 1pm.
Renowned Australian children’s book author and illustrator Alison Lester will make a special guest appearance at the event with a book signing from 11am.
Community Service and Facilities portfolio councillor Karen May said she was excited to have Alison Lester in Mackay.
“Many parents will be familiar with Alison Lester’s work having read her books to their children, some of which will have grown up and in turn are reading them to the next generation,” Cr May said.
As well as being a meet and greet with Alison Lester’s, Kids Art Carnivale is also a fun way to celebrate the work submitted by children in the Who am I? exhibition.
Who am I?: Self portraits by students of the Mackay region includes the work of 467 students from 14 schools across the region, aging from Prep to Year 12 and even includes work from students of Mackay’s Sister City, Matsuura, Japan.
Children will be able to enjoy a variety of activities including badge and artist book making, creative self portraits as well as Meet the Collection and fun children’s entertainment.
This is a free event and no bookings are necessary. For more information contact Artspace Mackay on 4961 9722 or visit www.artspacemackay.com.au.
