The Artspace Mackay Foundation is breaking new ground at Artspace Mackay, with Filmspace, an intimate screening of art on film. Our first movie was the kinetic Basquiat, by acclaimed director Julian Schnabel.

FILMSPACE @ARTSPACE- Sunday 12^th September 2010

Our second film will be the Academy award winning Frida, a 2002 biographical film which depicts the professional and private life of the surrealist Mexican Painter Frida Kahlo. Frida is a movie about art that is a work of art itself. The films unique visual language takes us into an artist's head and is a vibrant feast of colour and beauty, and tragedy. One not to be missed.

Filmspace will be introduced by Melissa Larsen- who will share her experience in visiting the House-Studio of Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo in Mexico City.  

HANDS ON BUSARY 2011- Launched September 2010

Funded by the Artspace Mackay Foundation, the $1000 'Hands on' Busary has been initiated to support and encourage young people ages 17-25yrs, originating from the Mackay region, who wish to pursue a career in the arts. LONG TABLE ART DINNER- Saturday 6^th November 2010 

The Artspace Mackay Foundation Long Table Art Dinner will take our guests on a gastronomic odyssey through distinctive artworks. Special guests will enthral you. An entertaining evening of fun food and art is guaranteed. More details revealed soon.
