Mackay is a vibrant and culturally rich region that is home to a great many artists, art groups, designers and crafts practitioners. Artspace Mackay is a regional art gallery owned and operated by Mackay Regional Council and is an ideal entry point to the unique culture and creativity of this region, creating connections and inspiring our region’s creativity.

Artspace has three impressive, contemporary gallery spaces and hosts exhibitions by local, Australian and international artists. A visit to Artspace Mackay is a creative, educational & enjoyable experience not to be missed. Viewing the exhibitions is free, and a number of public programs are also free of charge. But, to avoid gallery closure periods, and make the most of your visit, familiarise yourself with our exhibitions program and contact us so we can supply you with further information & advice.

It's best to plan ahead

When you plan to include a visit to Artspace Mackay in your program or satellite itinerary, our gallery staff can assist you to design an inspiring, enjoyable, educational and even interactive experience. On request, programs can be tailored to suit individual interests, needs and budget if applicable.

Location

Ideally located in the Civic Precinct, alongside the Mackay Entertainment Convention Centre (MECC) and the Jubilee Community Centre, Artspace Mackay is within walking distance of Mackay City Centre, making it an appealing and accessible destination for conference visitors and tourists.

Accessibility & parking

The gallery is purpose-built, on one level with easy access for all, and has parking at the front, side and rear of the building. A pick-up/drop-off zone is provided approximately 25m from the entrance doors with capacity for a medium sized bus and there are two designated disability parking bays and accessible footpaths near the building entrance.
