Art Youth 13+
Artspace Mackay's Art Youth 13+ event series designed to provide opportunities for students 13+ living in the Mackay, Whitsunday and Isaac Regions to meet, interact with, and be inspired by professional and emerging artists, curators, artsworkers, and educators. Art Youth 13+ will also present opportunities for high school students to learn from other young people who are engaged in studying visual arts at university level – an excellent way to demystify tertiary study and career pathways.
The goal is to provide a series of after-hours events at Artspace Mackay specifically aimed at students and their families. Visiting artists, curators, educators and tertiary visual arts students will deliver presentations that give insight into their arts practice, work history, ambitions, career pathways, study experiences and good old-fashioned advice for young people who may be considering an arts career of their own.
Art Youth 13+ Events are an enjoyable way to learn from people working and studying in the field of visual arts. In addition to a talk or presentation, opportunities are provided on the evening to ask questions, have conversations, and meet other students and families with a love of art. These events are free with light refreshments provided.
Because many of the adult workshops, masterclasses, talks and events offered at the gallery are extremely beneficial for students aged 13+, Artspace Mackay uses the Art Youth 13+ Welcome logo on promotions to break down barriers and encourage students to attend these general access events too!
