Messengers of Mackay

Print and make art at home or at school with these wonderful Gouldian Finch-inspired craft projects!

One of six giant Gouldian Finches will fly into Mackay and land on the roof of Artspace Mackay in July during the Mackay Festival of Arts.

Previously installed across Queensland's capital city as Messengers of Brisbane, the enormous art installations were created by internationally renowned artist Florentijn Hofman, and brought to life by Brisbane’s Urban Art Projects. These spectacularly coloured birds will now invite us to look up and smile as you see them appearing here as Messengers of Mackay.

Take your friends and family on a birdwatching expedition through Mackay and you'll find the remaining five Gouldian Finches perched atop Bluewater Quay, Bluewater Lagoon, Rydges Mackay, Caneland Central and Mackay Showgrounds.
