A workshop on writing about your arts practice.

If you struggle with writing about your practice, then this workshop is for you. Join art historian and creative mentor Dr Louise R Mayhew, to develop your skills in thinking, talking and writing about your work. Using group discussions and solo activities, Louise will guide you through essential strategies for discussing your work and share tips and tricks for enhancing your writing. Together, we’ll discuss artist statements, exhibition proposals, grant applications and more. Bring along an example of your art and all of your questions about writing. Participants will leave with new knowledge and skills to confidently communicate your ideas.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP FACILITATOR
Dr Louise R Mayhew is an Australian Feminist Art Historian living and working in Meanjin/Brisbane. Following a decade in academia, Louise freelances as an art writer and editor as well as a mentor for emerging creatives. Her research and writing appears in Art Almanac, Art Monthly Australasia, Eyeline, SUNNIE and more. For her latest project, Louise is the Founding Editor of Lemonade: a new weekly reviews platform for exhibitions in the Sunshine state. Louise is endlessly excited about art, and believes that all artists deserve enthusiastic, accessible, goal-oriented support.
